ABOUT RANCHO SANTIAGO COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT
Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) is one of the most established districts in the state and has been in operation for nearly 50 years. Located in the heart of Orange County, it is one of the largest of California's 72 community college districts, based on the number of credit and non-credit students. RSCCD encompasses 25 percent of Orange County's total area and serves a population of more than 700,000 residents in the communities of Anaheim Hills, Orange, Santa Ana, Villa Park, and portions of Anaheim, Costa Mesa, Irvine, Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, Tustin, and Yorba Linda. The District includes Santiago Canyon College and Santa Ana College, as well as the Centennial and Orange Continuing Education Centers, the Digital Media Center, Joint Powers Fire Training Center, the Orange County Sheriff's Regional Training Academy, the College and Workforce Preparation Center, and the District Operations Center. RSCCD's three (3) auxiliary Foundations are actively involved in supporting both community and campus programs. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate meetings with health agencies and medical facilities in the development and maintenance of Allied Health programs. Align standards to California Department of Public Health.
  • Participate in the creation, implementation and maintenance of Occupational Allied Health courses and programs including maintaining course outlines and curriculum.
  • Assist in the selection and orientation of program faculty and staff.
  • Procure funding to support growth, expansion and student outcomes. Track and report employment, noncredit to credit transitions and other metrics.
  • Recommend purchase of supplies, equipment, textbooks, and software.
  • May teach evening or off-campus assignments unless excused according to Board Policy provisions. Maintain accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, and academic progress.
  • Special duties and responsibilities will include collaboration with other agencies in Orange County.
  • Be familiar with and observe the administrative regulations. Participate in college governance, noncredit committees, department meetings and other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSRequirements Minimum Qualifications (Applicants must meet one of the following):
  • Possess from an accredited institution: A bachelor's degree (nursing) and two years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught, OR an associate degree (nursing) and six years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught, OR
  • Possession of a full-time clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in the subject matter, OR
  • The equivalent (applicants who do not meet the above minimum qualifications must complete the Equivalencies Section in the application form and provide conclusive evidence of such).
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
The Assistant Professor/Coordinator, Career Education Allied Health should be a Registered Nurse (RN) who, at a minimum, meets the requirements as stated in Title 22 and is approved by the California Department of Public Health. Applicants must meet all of the following:
  • Have and maintain an active RN license and BLS/CPR certification, AND
  • Possess an approved and active Director of Staff Development (DSD) Number from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) OR Meet #1 - 3
    1. Two (2) years of full-time nursing experience as a Registered Nurse.
    2. One (1) year of full-time, verifiable experience as an LVN or RN, providing care and services to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility, home care, hospice care, or other long-term care setting.
    3. Completion of a course in teaching adults (need to provide certificate of completion) OR one (1) year of verifiable experience in teaching adults. OR one (1) year of verifiable experience supervising nurse aides.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience in teaching students from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and widely varying levels of proficiency preferred.
  • A working knowledge of and experience with student learning outcomes and assessment.
